Operation Light up 

This week saw, the RSA and An Garda Siochana commence operation light up, which aimed to address the significant issue of defective, broken, missing, or inappropriate use of vehicle lighting. Garda members will specifically target and stop drivers who have defective lighting or using them inappropriately ,  with a recent increase in road deaths the Garda are appealing to road users to get back to basics and get there lighting right. 

The Garda will be issuing 60 euro on the spot fines for non compliance in this area.  Please give yourself every chance of being seen.

On successful completion of a driving test in an automatic car, you will be issued with a driving license that will have restrictions, 

Some of these restrictions include:

• You can drive a automatic transmission unaccompanied, with no restrictions, however if you choose to drive a manual transmission you must be accompanied by a qualified with no restrictions on their license, you are effectively treated as a learner driver when driving a manual transmission car.

• These conditions will apply in other EU member states

• You may not be insured to drive a manual transmission car.
