How to check if your driving instructor is approved by the RSA
How to check if your driving instructor is approved by the
RSA
If you thinking about taking driving lessons in Dublin or
anywhere in Ireland, you will need to check if your driving school or driving
instructor are registered by the RSA. If you are taking EDT driving lessons you will need to have a RSA ADI (approved
driving instructor) provide the driving lessons. If your current driving
instructor is not an ADI then you will not be able to take your practical
driving test until you complete your EDT driving lessons with a Registered ADI
How do I check the ADI Register?
This is very easy, all you need do is click the link here
and insert the your driving instructor number, your driving instructor is
required to display his number in his car or on his person at all times while
conducting a driving lesson. If your driver does not have a ADI number then he
or she is not a registered approved driving instructor and is not able to
provide EDT Driving lessons
Here is an example of an ADI number

Automatic driving lessons dublin and driving restrictions
Some things to note about taking your test and driving lessons in automatic cars.
On
successful completion of a driving test in an automatic car, you will be issued
with a driving license that will have restrictions,
Some
of these restrictions include:
- You can drive a automatic transmission unaccompanied, with no restrictions, however if you choose to drive a manual transmission you must be accompanied by a qualified with no restrictions on their license, you are effectively treated as a learner driver when driving a manual transmission car.
- These conditions will apply in other EU member states
- You may not be insured to drive a manual transmission car.
Learn2drive
Dublin provide a EDT driving lessons with automatic and manual transmission

Changes to the RSA EDT Logbook System
From Friday 01/02/2013 the RSA will introduce a change to the stamping system in the EDT logbook, where the RSA testers will no longer be checking the stamps in the back of the EDT logbook.
So what does this mean for Learner Drivers in Dublin?
The introduced changes means that a student will not be issued with a RSA practical driving test date until your ADI(driving instructor) has uploaded your completed EDT logbook to the RSA website.
This only effects those who were issued with a learner permit after 04/11/2011
Should you have any quires about EDT logbooks and test procedures please feel free to contact David McDonnell at learntodrivedublin.ie for any information on the above or anything else relating to EDT driving lessons in Dublin.
